Nature and the world around us have so much to offer, especially when we’re able to take the time to stop and look closely. My goal is to give you an opportunity to take a detailed look at something that you might not otherwise get to experience. This might be the grains of pollen on a butterfly’s face, a least tern sheltering a newborn chick, the spines on a spider’s legs, the softness of a bird’s feathers, or the orange pre-dawn glow in the sky in a special place.
As I’ve built my skills as a photographer and naturalist over the past 15 years, my portfolio of film and digital images has grown to include a wide variety of birds, butterflies, flowers, and landscapes. Although I’ve included images from around the country on this web site, I’ve found most of my favorite subjects near my home in Florida, especially Northeast Florida. To make sure that I capture that “special moment”, I typically visit an area many times year after year.
Image capture and processing
I’ve taken all of my images with either 35 mm slide film or high resolution digital cameras using lenses ranging from 15 mm to 600 mm. I then use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to get each image ready for print. While this typically consists of basic color and contrast adjustments, I sometimes will remove distracting elements and crop down to small areas so your eye goes to the key parts of the subject.
I print all of my images using large format Epson printers and Epson Premium Luster paper. Each print has an expected display life of 50-70 years, especially when displayed under glass.
Orders for print
At this time, I custom make each print as it is ordered. While this takes a little more time, it ensures that each print is the best it can be (I'm a stickler for sharpness).
Let me know if you have any questions about either these subjects or how to order a print. I'm happy to help if I can!
